Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC)

The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) at Government General Degree College, Nakashipara addresses issues relating to marginalization and exclusion of minority groups, including those based on caste, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, and gender.

The Cell works proactively on:

  • Anti-discrimination policies
  • Grievance redressal procedures
  • Sensitization and awareness programmes

The EOC functions in accordance with the UGC (Promotion of Equity in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulation, 2012 and its subsequent amendments, ensuring equity and inclusivity within the institution.

Objectives of the EOC

  • Safeguard the interests of all students without prejudice to caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, gender, or disability.
  • Promote equality among all sections of students and staff.
  • Oversee the effective implementation of policies and programmes for disadvantaged groups.
  • Provide guidance and counselling on academic, financial, social, and personal matters.
  • Enhance diversity and inclusivity within the college.

Functions of the EOC

  1. Ensure equity and equal opportunity for the college community and promote social inclusion.
  2. Enhance diversity among students, teaching, and non-teaching staff while eliminating perceptions of discrimination.
  3. Create a socially congenial atmosphere for academic interaction and foster healthy interpersonal relationships among students from diverse backgrounds.
  4. Sensitize the academic community regarding issues of social exclusion and the aspirations of marginalized communities.
  5. Assist students from disadvantaged sections in addressing problems related to discrimination.
  6. Address grievances of weaker sections of society and suggest amicable solutions.
  7. Disseminate information regarding welfare schemes, programmes, notifications, and government orders concerning socially disadvantaged groups.
