Governing Body & Board of Study

At Government General Degree College, Nakashipara, there is no independent Executive Council like that of a university, as the college functions under the affiliating university’s regulations. However, the administrative and academic decisions at the college level are guided by the Governing Body, which acts as the highest decision-making authority for the institution.

Governing Body (GB)

The Governing Body includes representatives from the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, the affiliating university, faculty members, and the Officer-in-Charge. It supervises key areas such as policy implementation, academic development, infrastructure planning, and financial management. The body ensures that all decisions align with government norms and university statutes, thereby maintaining transparency and accountability in institutional governance. Through its structured decision-making process, the Governing Body plays a role similar to an Executive Council in upholding quality and integrity in academic and administrative functioning. Board of Studies (BoS)

The Board of Studies (BoS) is an academic body primarily present at the university level, responsible for designing curricula, updating syllabi, and recommending teaching-learning methodologies. Since Government General Degree College, Nakashipara is affiliated with a university, it does not have an independent BoS. Instead, faculty members from the college often participate in BoS meetings organized by the affiliating university, and some teachers are members of the Board of Studies of that university. The BoS ensures that the courses offered are relevant, updated, and aligned with the latest developments in the subject area. It also frames guidelines for internal assessment, practical work, and evaluation methods. Faculty involvement in BoS helps the college contribute to academic reforms and maintain quality in higher education.
